New Church Musician Hired!
As our current members and friends all know--after 38 years serving as the dynamic duo of music at First Presbyterian--Sue and Toby Saltarelli have retired. But hold on! Even though we hired a Music Director back in June, 2015 (Steve Luxbacher), we still could not find someone to play the organ. Sue graciously delayed her retirement as we searched. We are happy to announce that, with the help of God, we have filled the position! Chris Luxbacher, wife of our music director Steve, will be joining us starting July 10th. With her comes their daughter, Katie. Please join in welcoming Chris and Katie!
Sue and Toby thanks you.
We want to express our deepest gratitude to all of you. Our retirement celebration was lovely, and we are totally overwhelmed by your generous gifts. We have been so blessed these many years by this wonderful church family, and could not have had more appreciation and support than we have had in this church. You all welcomed us from the very beginning, and we can't imagine worshiping anywhere else.
As we enter a new phase of singing in the choir, we are excited to be turning the music program over to Steve and Chris. We believe that God has truly blessed us by bringing them here, and we look forward to a great future.
We thank you again for thirty-eight wonderful years, and mostly for your friendship. We now join the rest of the choir in "making a joyful noise"!
In Christian service,
Toby & Sue
With the hiring of a new musician, we bring to a close the 38 year period of Sue and Toby Saltarelli's leadership of our music program. Their accomplishment in Christ cannot be overstated. They were not just staff, but very active members and part of the family. They both served above and beyond as disciples, even as they led our music program. Please join us in celebrating Sue and Toby's long service to Christ in this place. We have a celebration planning committee making preparations for the June 26, 2016, 2 p.m. celebration. Let Toby and Sue know how much we love them and appreciate all they continue to do in the life and work of Franklin First Presbyterian Church!
2015 Christmas Eve Soup and Chili Supper / Candlelight Service Well Attended
Christmas Eve is a sacred day. It is truly a blessing to share it with your friends and neighbors in church. Both the Soup and Chili Supper was well attended this year. To kick off the evening, everyone enjoyed a variety of wonderful soups. The candlelight service was a reader's theater presentation of the full Christmas story read in one sitting. There were many breaks in the reading to sing and enjoy the singing of others. It was a great way to celebrate the coming of Christ! Below are just a few pictures. Enjoy!
NEW Worship Service
The church began a new worship service last summer. It is shorter and more casual. The service has less in the way of reading and more in prayer and singing. So many people liked it, we decided to continue! Come and experience this for yourself!
